I started my fitness journey a year ago and have learned a lot during this period. I might not look like a girl who exercises 3 to 5 times a week, wakes up at 6h30 to go to the gym before work, and has everything figured out. WISH I DON’T -” I barely have my meals for the day figured out.” To be clear, if you’re looking for ”THAT GIRL’S” definition, my picture isn’t coming up.
But I can give 4 tips for ‘ that girl trying to survive life without a mental breakdown’.
1 – It was my decision!
It may seem a clear point, but I felt pressure from my parents for a long time, who kept bugging me that I had to exercise. And I tried; I would find a gym membership when the first 2 to 3 weeks, and later on, they would never see me again until I decided to end it. But something shifted when I decided to be healthier and have better relations with my body, and I did the work.
PD: IT WASN’T EASY
2- Find a workout friend
For me, it was my trainer. I wanted to make sure I was doing exercise at least 2 times a week. So I found Judith. I was lucky because we clicked pretty fast. It doesn’t need to be a trainer. Find a friend that will help and, at the same time, will give accountability.
3- Don’t compare your journey with other people’s
It is easier said than done, and I am talking with experience. Remember, your journey is yours and no one else. Your struggles aren’t other people’s struggles. You may not see results quickly, but you must look at your trajectory and celebrate all the small victories that you achieve.
4- Fake it till you make it
We all know the saying even when you don’t feel like it, you must do it. If you want to achieve your goals, you have to show up and do the work.
And I know it isn’t easy some days, but consistency is vital.
Conclusion
Make it your journey and your decision. And celebrate your victories no matter how small they are. Once you start this journey, I know you will not regret it because choosing yourself to be first is always the best option.
I mean, I might not have the ” THAT GIRL” aesthetic. But this body of mine has been going to the gym for a year, and I am a hell of proud of it.
