Welcome to Chara: A Personal Blog About Identity, Growth, and Navigating Adulthood

Welcome to Chara, a personal blog created as a space for self-discovery, storytelling, and navigating the complexities of womanhood, identity, and adulthood.

You might be wondering what Chara means and why this name holds so much significance. In Mozambican culture, where my roots lie, Chara is a name we give to those we’re named after. In my case, I carry the name of my late grandmother and aunt on my mother’s side—two remarkable women who left this world too early.

I often wonder what they could have become if they had access to the same opportunities, education, and space to prioritise themselves. What dreams could they have fulfilled if they were allowed to put themselves first?

This blog is my tribute to them—and to every woman trying to find her place in a world that wasn’t built with her in mind.

Why I Created This Blog

Since stepping into adulthood, I’ve felt lost more times than I can count. No one handed me a blueprint. Like many, I’ve questioned what it means to do life right, especially as a Black woman, an immigrant, and someone who doesn’t shy away from being loud and proud.

This space is for sharing that journey—my challenges, lessons, questions, and growth—as I figure out what it means to live fully, love deeply, and embrace all parts of who I am.
